The TA
The Royal Gibraltar Regiment was raised in Gibraltar under the DEFENCE FORCE ORDINANCE 1943 (later the Gibraltar Regiment Ordinance 1998).The Regiment is included in the British Army as a colonial force through the Corps Warrant. Organised, equipped and with a similar role to a light role battalion it comes under The Director of Infantry and the Queen’s Division umbrella. The Regiment comes under the Headquarters British Forces Gibraltar which in turn comes under the auspices of Permanent Joint Head Quarters as an overseas garrison.
