The following criteria are the basic start standard:
Nationality
To serve as a soldier or officer in the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, you must comply with the nationality and residency rules, namely:
You must be a British or Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or have been born in a country that is (or at the time of your birth was) within the UK, Commonwealth or Republic of Ireland.
Regular Soldier
Minimum age: 16 years.
Maximum age: 27 years.
Qualifications: No academic qualifications required.
Other criteria: Must be healthy and physically fit.
Regular Officer
Minimum age: 17 years, 9 months.
Maximum age: 29 years.
Qualifications: Minmum of 5 GCSEs grades A-C (including English language, maths and either a science or foreign language); also 140 UCAS tariff points at A/AS level.
Other criteria: Must be healthy and physically fit.
TA Soldier
Minimum age: 17 years.
Maximum age: 32 years.
Qualifications: Nil required.
Other criteria: Must be healthy and physically fit.
TA Officer
Minimum age: 18 years.
Maximum age: 32 years.
Qualifications: Minimum of 3 GCSEs grades A-C.
Other criteria: Must be healthy and physically fit.
