Regimental Exhibition
The Regiment held an exhibition from 18-29 April in the Casemates exhibition hall. It showed all aspects of the Regiment’s life past and present: Its history as the GVC and GDF, its current role, training, operations, sports and ceremonials.
The Exhibition was opened on the night of 18tth April by HE the Governor, Commander-in-Chief of the Regiment, during a VIP reception which was also attended by the Chief Minister. Many schools and clubs visited the exhibition, including, on its second evening, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Association, who
had a great time reminiscing and recognising themselves and old friends in the photos! It was also surprising for some to see the advancements that have been made in weapons and personal equipment since the days of national service. The exhibition was successful in achieving its aims – maintaining the good relations we enjoy with Gibraltar’s community, increasing awareness of the realities of life in the Regiment and encouraging potential recruits.

Another exhibition is not planned for the near future and although we are often asked if me will be opening a Regimental museum this is not currently possible with the limited material we have. The Royal Gibraltar Regiment’s Heritage Cell is always keen to receive photos, documents and equipment chronicling its history.
