HISTORY-ARCHIVE
In the Royal Gibraltar Regiment we are justly proud of our short but distinguished history. We keep an archive of photographs and memorabilia which is maintained by a specially appointed Heritage Cell. We have many hundreds of photographs dating back to the times of the Gibraltar Volunteer Corps and Gibraltar Defence Force. Our documents and memorabilia include the GVC’s record of Company detail, wartime drill manuals and personal equipment such as webbing and respirators.
Past or Present Soldier? We Need Your Help!
If you or someone in your family has served in the Regiment or its parent units then you could help us. We are looking for any type of old or new photograph, documents, or any other piece of information that you might wish to be included in our archive. You will not lose your photographs or documents as we are able to scan them and return them to you within 24 hours.
Alternatively if you would like to loan or donate an item, photograph or document, we would proud to add it to our collection.
Remembering Your Service
We are often asked about the possibility of opening a Regimental Museum. While this is a long term ambition for us it is not currently possible with the material that we have. If you would like to view our archives, either individually or in a small group, a member of our Heritage Cell will be happy to show you around. We can arrange for any photos you like to be scanned for you.
